Whether you a complete novice or an experienced artisan, if you are interested in woodcraft, the Guild offers something for you.

Membership

Membership is open to all people of secondary school age and above. There are opportunities for the novice, through to experienced hobbyist, experts and professionals. We are here to learn and enjoy woodcraft whilst gaining new skills mentored by those willing to teach. Memberships are for 12 months.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times while at the shed. The adult does not need to be a member unless they wish to participate or use any equipment.

Prices below are for first year of membership. Annual renewal fees for subsequent years are $50 less for full adult memberships.

The following single memberships can be completed online:

  • Single Adult – $200
  • Country Single Adult – $150
  • Secondary Student – $45
  • Full-time Tertiary Student (19-25yrs) – $90

The following family memberships require this form to be completed and emailed to the Membership Secretary:

  • Family – $320
  • Country Family – $195

Facilities

The Shed is and is well equipped with an excellent range of machinery and hand tools for members to use. There are 4 work rooms:

  • Bench room – fully equipped with work benches, and hand tools and a complete sharpening station
  • Machine room – containing a jointer, planer, table saw, compound mitre saw, several band saws, drum and spindle sanders
  • Turning room – with 11 lathes and all the chucks and tools you might need
  • Forge room – for members with an interest in restoring or making their own tools

And, of course, a large kitchen for some down-time and to catch up with fellow members.

Safety in the shed

Woodworking is inherently a hazardous activity.  The correct attitude towards your personal safety and that of others, as well as the care of tools and machinery, is imperative.

The Guild policy on Health and Safety is directly linked to the system of Accreditation for safe use of workshop equipment.
