Joining the Guild
Joining and Renewal of Membership in the Woodcraft Guild of the ACT is open to anyone with an interest in pursuing woodcraft.
Both New and Renewing Members are required to complete and return a completed Membership Form.
The Membership Year is from 1st July to the following 30th June with membership required to be renewed each year. New memberships and renewals occurring between 1 December and 30 June incur half the annual membership fee.
There are several categories of membership to which varying fees apply: Single $70; Family $80; Secondary Student (<18 yrs) $30.00; Tertiary Student (<25 yrs) $35.00; Country (>30km from Canberra) half the relevant fee shown above; Limited (School to Industry Students or solely to attend a Guild course) $7.50.
Fees may be paid either directly to the Guild’s bank account, by cheque or by credit card (Visa or MasterCard). (See the Membership Form for details).
Members may enjoy the use (once safety accredited) of equipment in the Guild’s ‘Shed’ located at the Lions Youth Haven, Kambah Pool Road, Kambah ACT.
The Guild’s monthly newsletter is published on its website. Members are alerted by email on its release. (If a member doesn’t have an email address it is posted to them). In addition, a Members’ Meeting is held on the last Wednesday of each month at the SHED at which matters of interest are raised and discussed followed by a presentation by one or more guest speakers on subjects of interest to members. The meetings also provide an opportunity for members to acquire timber and tools from the Guild’s holdings at favourable prices. Members also regularly meet at Special Interest Group (SIG) sessions according to their particular woodworking interests.
Members are provided with the opportunity to enter their craftwork in the Guild's annual Woodcraft Competition and Exhibition, which is held in conjunction with the Timber and Working with Wood Show in early September.
