An opportunity for any Guild members who:

  • have never been on a lathe and want to try turning
  • novices who need to build confidence at the lathe
  • turners who want cleaner cuts and bigger shavings

COST:  Removing your shavings and a modest contribution to the Woodturning SIG Chuck Fund.  How much is up to you.

WHERE: The Shed

** The day will be divided into one-hour shifts starting at 9am with a short demo on each hour. **

You’ll use gouges and skew chisels to turn green ash into fat shavings.

There will be a trailer-full of FREE face and centrework blanks to waste — although you can rough out a bowl or two, turn a carver’s mallet, or a sphere, or an egg.

QUERIES call Richard 0408 566673 or email raffanr@icloud.com

If you bring all your gouges and skew chisels, we’ll get them shaped and sharp and offer advice on what to keep and what to throw away.

Turning green wood is great fun but you can get sprayed and stained. To protect your clothing it pays to wear a smock, old bomber jacket, or anorak.
