These cross-grain boxes involve a wide range of facework and chucking techniques whilst offering infinite design opportunities. Interesting variations on these boxes can be created using roughed bowls as well as, or in conjunction with, seasoned blanks.
You can expect to make at least two boxes during the workshop.
Tools: 3/8-in bowl gouge, ½-in spindle gouge, 3/8-in spindle or detail gouge, ¾-in square-end scraper, ½-in or ¾-in skew chisel. (Guild tools and safety gear will be available, but it’s best to bring your own.)
Blanks: Can be purchased from ACTWG or bring pairs of seasoned blanks between 100-200mm diameter, or pairs of roughed-out bowls.
Morning & afternoon tea provided, but bring your own lunch.
The workshop is limited to 10 participants so register early with RR at raffanr@icloud.com or text 0408 566 673
