David Upfill-Brown  –  Summary of Experience and Expertise

 David with tools

David has worked with wood for more than 40 years:  Initially as a sculptor and after training at John Makepeace’s  (1980/81) as a designer and maker of fine furniture.  He also has 25 years of teaching behind him, from part time teaching at the ANU and his own studio, then 4 years as inaugural academic director of the Australian School of Fine Furniture to 5 years as lead instructor of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine.  He now divides his time between his studio in Gerringong NSW and teaching in Australia and the USA.

David has expertise in all aspects of woodwork and furniture making but only limited knowledge of finishing and computer technologies.
