TURN AN HEIRLOOM STOOL WITH RICHARD RAFFAN
June 25-26, 2016, 9am to 5pm at The Shed, Lions Youth Haven, Kambah.
COST: $230
Some experience required: this is not an intended to be an introduction to woodturning.
‘Heirloom’ because this stool is a table and climbing aid for toddlers, then a handy low table for drinks in those middle years, and later a footstool before going on to the next generation. Expect to complete at least two.
Tools: 3/8-in bowl gouge, ½-in spindle gouge, ¾-in square-end or skewed scraper, 1-in or ¾-in skew chisel. (Guild tools and safety gear will be available, but it’s best to bring your own.)
Blanks: Can be purchased from ACTWG or bring:
Seat: 270-310mm diameter, at least 30mm thick. Seats need not be round and can be thicker.
Legs: Dry squares c.250-320mm long, at least 50mm square.
Morning & afternoon tea provided, but bring your own lunch.
